Each family has its own special traditions. Someone is used to meeting at a large table on holidays, someone likes to relax in a certain way, and someone very unusually gathers children in kindergarten.
Four-year-old Carolyn Hirt went to school for the first time this year (kindergarten is the first school step in the American education system) and now she has also joined an interesting family custom. On the first day, she wore a 67-year-old dress made by her great-grandmother!
At one time, the dress was worn by the girl’s grandmother, aunt and mother. Mom Carolyn became the heel who put on this gorgeous outfit. The girl herself is the 18th, and her cousin Sylvia is the 19th.
In her long and interesting life, the yellow cotton dress managed to visit 7 states and witness important events in the history of 3 generations! Surprisingly, it is still in almost perfect condition. Jenny says that each girl was always given a change of clothes with her, which she changed so as not to dirty her dress during outdoor games and other activities.
«In our family, things have always been inherited. It brought a pleasant element of nostalgia and strengthened the bond of generations,» she explains. Mom also remembers that Carolyn was very afraid to wear this dress, however, after looking at her childhood photos, she decided that it would be great. True, Sylvia still slightly stained the outfit with ice cream, but it’s not scary. There are three more girls in line, who are now 2, 3 and 4 years old. To some, this tradition may seem a little strange, but it seems to us that such education is worth a lot!
