A brave schoolboy Sergey Savelov from the Arkhangelsk region received the «Warm Heart» award from the hands of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Russia Vladimir Kolokoltsev. After all, he himself, with a cast on his arm, dragged a wounded friend to the emergency room, which saved his life.And everything happened in February. The boy and his friends decided to take a ride on the ice slide Bear, which is located near the ferry between the islands of Habarka and Brevennik.
Sergey’s mother forbade him to do this, because he had a broken finger on his hand and a cast was put on. But the boy did not listen. He and the guys rolled down the slide once, but since it was with potholes, and Sergey was with plaster, the boys found a more level slide, but at the end there were trees. Everyone was riding, everything was fine.
«I moved out first and said, «That’s it, I won’t go anymore.» There are trees around, you can hit. He remained standing at the bottom. Mitya went, his cheesecake jumped like on a springboard, and he crashed into a tree with all his might, hit his head hard.»Mitya didn’t understand anything at first, he tried to get up, but immediately fell down. The guys were able to put it on two cheesecakes, but the third friend who was with Mitya and Sergei got scared and ran away. It was as much as 2 kilometers to the house, neither one nor the other had a phone.
Along the way, Sergey tried to slow down passing cars, but maybe people thought that teenagers were having so much fun, so no one stopped. So Sergey dragged 2 kilometers, his friend on two cheesecakes. On the way Mitya lost consciousness. A strong wind was blowing, it was getting dark.
«I didn’t think about anything then — I was just afraid that he wouldn’t die. I was dragging with the last of my strength, in a hurry. It was also a sore arm, it was hard. But I couldn’t leave Mitya and run to call for help: what if he dies alone or freezes.»
Already in the hospital, it turned out that Mitya had a closed craniocerebral injury and a concussion. As doctors say, procrastination would affect the boy with a disability, and thanks to Sergei and Mitya, everything is fine. Classmates found out about Sergei’s act already when he received a certificate from the police for heroism, and then he was sent to Moscow for the «Hot Heart» award.
Sergey has become very popular, but he does not consider himself a hero, he says that he just really wanted to save a friend.
«Such children are rare now. And he has a very developed sense of compassion. This is such a spiritual core he has laid, the right upbringing,» said Irina Panova, Sergey’s homeroom teacher.
