A heartbreaking story that makes you rethink a lot… I want to cry and appreciate every moment of this cruel, beautiful and unpredictable life…
If you are looking for a beautiful romantic story, then the lines below are unlikely to suit you. This story is terrible, but it makes you think and rethink a lot…
Nolan Scully dreamed of helping people at the age of 4. He wanted to be a policeman and serve the community, as his father, a firefighter, did. Unfortunately, at the age of 3, Nolan was diagnosed with a rare form of soft tissue cancer. Since he got sick (the diagnosis is rhabdomyosarcoma), difficult times have come in the baby’s family.
To fulfill the dream of a seriously ill kid, the local police department made Nolan an honorary police officer of the city. From that day on, he went down in history as Sergeant Rollin Nolan.
The boy and his family were supported all over the world, doctors did everything to save him. But soon the parents heard what they had been afraid of since the diagnosis. Only 4 weeks after the operation, the CT results showed huge tumors that squeeze the bronchi and the boy’s heart. Metastasized alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma spread at lightning speed. The cancer turned out to be not only immune to all tested treatment options, but also inoperable up to a certain point. The only thing left was to provide the baby with the most comfortable last days possible.
And Nolan’s mom Ruth decided that she had to find the strength to let her son go. Nolan, being a strong and gentle boy, was not at all afraid of what was waiting for him. Before he died, he simply promised his mother that he would wait for her in heaven. Ruth told about what was their last conversation with her son Mom: Baby, does it hurt to breathe?
Nolan: Well… yes.
Mom: is the pain very strong?
Nolan (lowering his eyes): Yes.
Mom: Baby, your cancer has won. You don’t have to fight him anymore.
Nolan (sincerely): Really? Then I will fight for you, Mom!
Mom: No, honey! Did you do that? Fought for Mom?
Nolan: Of course!
Mom: Nolan, what should a good mom do?
Nolan (smiling broadly): to make sure that everything is fine with me!
Mom: Sunny… I can’t promise that anymore. Now the only place you’ll be safe is heaven.
Nolan: So I’ll just go to heaven and play there until you come! You will come to me, won’t you?
Mom: Of course! You can’t get rid of Mom so easily!
Nolan: Thank you, Mom! Meanwhile, I’m going to play with Hunter, Briley and Henry!
After letting his mom go take a shower, he closed his eyes and fell asleep. Soon Nolan fell into a coma, but when his mother lay down next to him, he woke up for a while, and that was enough time for her to hug him and sing until he was gone forever. Goosebumps after reading this story, isn’t it?
