Have you noticed how often we smugly and still pass by people who are in need, as if they simply don’t exist? We are always scared of people who are different from us. The difference in appearance, behavior, manners, habits, upbringing causes us surprise, and sometimes outright indignation. Sofia, a waitress from a Mexican restaurant acted in an unusual way «went against everyone», although according to the rules of this restaurant, employees were forbidden to feed the homeless.
Once a homeless man visited the restaurant where Sofia worked. It was immediately evident from his appearance. He was dressed at all costs, untidy, dirty and smelled early. He sat down at the table, but none of the staff began to serve him, they stood aside and watched his actions closely without conscience. The guests sitting nearby defiantly began to move to tables further away.
He realized what he was going to go to when Sophia came up to him. She smiled at him, introduced herself as usual, and took his order. Then she brought his food. The guests and staff of this restaurant watched in surprise and cast disparaging glances at him. The manager of the establishment made a remark to her and warned that if this visitor could not pay for the order, she would do it for him.
He ate everything he ordered, asked for the bill and paid it. Besides, he left a good tip for Sofia–two hundred dollars. No one expected such a turn of events. Together with tea, Sofia found a note expressing gratitude for morality. “You have found the secret of happiness. Kindness will continue to guide you through life,» the guest wrote. The fact is that this guest turned out to be the owner of the restaurant, who specifically pretended to be homeless in order to evaluate the quality of service and dishes in his establishment. And that’s not all… After this story, Sofia got a promotion. Now she is the manager of this restaurant.
